A complete data logger inside a Touch Memory can — clock, sensor, memory and a battery specified for about 10 years (per the original manufacturer's datasheet; confirm for the supplied version), with nothing to wire and nothing to charge. Beyond the 2048-point trend log it keeps a 63-bin histogram covering the whole range at 2 °C, so even after the log wraps you still hold the full statistical picture of the trip, plus 96 bytes of alarm memory for the time and duration of excursions outside your limits.
