iButton / 1-Wire family code reference table
The first two hex digits of a 1-Wire ROM identify the device type. This reference table maps the common family codes to their iButton and 1-Wire part numbers, so you can identify any key from its printed ID.

The two hex digits at one end of the engraved number are the family code — the least-significant byte of the 64-bit ROM. 01h means a DS1990A-class serial key. The twelve digits in the middle are the unique serial, and the remaining two are a CRC-8 over the first 56 bits (polynomial X⁸+X⁵+X⁴+1), so any reader can verify the number it just read.
