DS1973 4 Kbit EEPROM iButton

4 Kbit rewritable EEPROM with 142 kbit/s Overdrive — no battery.

512 bytes of rewritable EEPROM in sixteen 256-bit pages, with a 256-bit scratchpad and a strict copy protocol for data integrity. Overdrive mode reaches 142 kbit/s for fast bulk read and write. Battery-free and powered from the bus; shares its die with the DS2433 chip. A common carrier for manufacturing "electronic traveler" records and calibration constants.

Why this model

The most memory you can get without a battery

512 bytes of rewritable EEPROM is sixteen times a DS1971 and four times a DS1972 — and unlike the NV RAM parts it needs no lithium cell, so there is nothing to go flat in storage and nothing to fail after ten years on a shelf. Overdrive mode reads or fills the whole array quickly, which matters on a production line reading hundreds of tokens an hour. It is the standard carrier for manufacturing "electronic traveller" records, calibration constants and per-unit configuration that must ship with the part and still be readable years later.

Key features

  • 512 bytes of rewritable EEPROM over 1-Wire, powered from the bus — no battery.
  • Sixteen 256-bit pages with a 256-bit scratchpad and strict copy protocol for data integrity.
  • Overdrive mode reaches 142 kbit/s for fast bulk read and write.
  • Family code 23h; unique 64-bit ROM; shares its die with the DS2433 chip; −40 to +85 °C.
  • Reads and writes from 2.8 V to 6.0 V; rugged MicroCan housing survives harsh application environments.
  • Original imported dies, canned and assembled at our own line — original-chip reliability at a sharper price; laser-etched custom marking and logos to order.
