RW2004 Rewritable Blank

Rewritable blank with memory area for extended-format keys.

The blank with a memory area. Where an RW1990 can only carry a 64-bit ID, the RW2004 (also sold as TM2004) adds writable EEPROM on top, so it can stand in for the memory-carrying credentials that some controllers expect rather than just a serial number. It uses its own write routine — copier firmware calls it the TM2004 protocol, distinct from both RW1990.1 and RW1990.2 — so the duplicator must list it explicitly.

The only rewritable blank with usable memory

Some controllers do not just read a key, they read what is written on it — a tenant record, a balance, a set of permissions. None of the ID-only blanks can serve those systems; the RW2004 can, because it carries a writable memory block alongside the programmable ID. Historically it also earned a reputation for patchy compatibility, which is precisely the gap RW1990 filled, so treat it as the specialist part: order it when the target system genuinely needs on-key memory, and use RW1990 or TM08v2 for everyday ID-only copying.
